Wakeboarding in the morning, kiteboarding in the afternoon with great nightlife in Lagos

Why limit yourself to only one watersport? Combination camps of two and more watersports are our specialty at AWS. Go wakeboarding in the morning, no wind and the water is flat at Meia Praia. In the afternoon when the Nortada starts blowing we go kiting on the lagoon. Also the Kitepros of the PKRA enjoyed some time on our X-Star. Check out the clip on the right!

Accommodation

The Camp House Lagos is the perfect place for people who like to go surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding or windsurfing during the day and party at night. All spots for the nightly entertainment, the beach and the wakeboarding boat can be reached by a short walk. We have daily transportation to the surf and kite spots*.

From the camp we reach about 20 different surf spots within 30 min. drive.

Lagos is an old fisher town about 70 km from Airport Faro and 30 km to Sagres, the south west of Europe. It is the ideal base for the watersport activitys. Great waves on the west and south coast, only minutes away from the best kitespot of the Algarve, the Ria do Alvor.

The camp is located in a quiet town area of beautiful Lagos. The day at the Kite House starts with a nice breakfast including orange juice, tea, cafe, whole wheat bread, baguet, crossiant, cheese, ham, jam, yohgurt, fruits, cereals**.

The house has five double*** and dorm-bedrooms and a cosy lounge with wifi-internet, cable TV and a multimedia system. You can fix your own meals in the well equipped kitchen, fire up the BBQ in the patio or hang out in the hammocks. If you rather eat out you will find a great variety of great restaurants and snackbars in the center of town only a three minute walk from the kitehouse. Lagos is party capital of the Algarve, the young and crazy scene comes from all over the world. Aussies, Kiwis, Canadians and Euros party until dawn.

Kite Spots

Our kite school spot is a big lagoon very close to Lagos. Depending on the tides the water is between knee and shoulder deep making it easy to learn the basics of kiteboarding. The “Nortada” the Portuguese north wind gets accelerated by the surrounding landscape which allows wind speed up to 20 knots while other parts of the Algarve are calm. This is the reason the PKRA (the Kiteboarding Pro Tour) stops here once per year. We take our clients by boat to an island in the middle of the lagoon. This place offers steady wind and lots of room for maximum safety and perfect learning conditions. Beginners to pros love the flat, warm water around the island.

Kiteboarding Lessons

Our students and camp participants are coached by multilingual, certified and well-trained IKO and VDWS-Instructors. Our unique, up-to-date teaching methods are supported by waterproof walkie-talkies, boat assistance and teaching with video camera. Naturaly modern kiteboarding equipment from our partners: Cabrinha, Best kiteboarding and pro-limit is included for the duration of the course. Our students are taught in small groups never bigger than 4 students per teacher. At the end of the theoretic and practical part of the course we offer a certification by IKO or VDWS-Standard allowing to rent equipment at kite stations world wide. For advanced kiteboarders with own equipment we offer a rescue and shuttle service on the kite lagoon.

Equipment is supplied by O’Brien and Ronix and often you’ll find the latest demo gear from Ronix is there for you to try if you’re a more experienced rider.
